Questions have emerged within the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State following reports that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe was placed on indefinite suspension by a faction of the party leadership. The development has generated debate among party members and observers over the process leading to the reported disciplinary action.
According to statements circulating within the party, the suspension was announced pending the outcome of a disciplinary committee that is expected to review the matter. However, some members have raised concerns about the timing of the decision, noting that the committee is yet to be formally constituted or conclude its deliberations.
Observers within the party have also called for clarity on whether the senator was given the opportunity for a fair hearing before the decision was announced. The situation has further drawn attention to internal disagreements within the Abia chapter of the party. Some party members have questioned whether key stakeholders in the state were adequately consulted before the reported suspension.
In addition, a voice recording circulating among party members reportedly featured a senior party figure expressing concerns about internal tensions and urging caution to avoid actions that could deepen divisions within the party. Party leaders have yet to issue a comprehensive clarification addressing the concerns raised by members. Political analysts say resolving the dispute through transparent procedures could help prevent further tensions and maintain cohesion within the party’s Abia State chapter.
