Thousands of trainees under the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Skill Up Artisans (SUPA) programme have participated in City & Guilds mock examinations across Nigeria, as part of preparations for final certification. According to a statement by ITF’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Thomas Ngor, the exams were conducted in 34 accredited centres and ITF area offices nationwide.
The mock tests covered nine trades, including welding and fabrication, plumbing and pipefitting, scaffolding, electrical installation, auto mechanics, carpentry, cybersecurity, housekeeping, and hospitality services. The ITF Director of Standardisation and Certification, Olayinka Shodunke, said the trainees were selected based on strong performance in both theoretical and practical components of the programme.
She added that City & Guilds would determine the schedule for final examinations after reviewing the mock results.The ITF Director-General, Afiz Ogun, who monitored the exercise at some centres, described the exams as part of efforts to equip participants with globally recognised certifications. He said the next phase of the SUPA programme for 2026 would begin in the coming weeks following a nationwide screening conducted in late 2025.
Ogun encouraged Nigerian youths to enrol in the programme, noting that ITF is engaging international certification bodies to expand opportunities for trainees.
