Aikawa on multiple counts filed by the anti-graft agency. The case was adjourned to March 31, 2026, for the hearing of pending applications, including bail.
Speaking to journalists after the proceedings, defence counsel Ubong Akpan said the charges relate to alleged financial transactions involving the defendant’s accounts. Akpan noted that no bail application was moved during the session, as the matter was scheduled for arraignment. The ICPC did not comment after the hearing but had earlier indicated plans to arraign El-Rufai alongside another defendant in a case involving allegations of unlawful possession and conversion of public property, as well as money laundering.
The commission also disclosed a separate case before a Kaduna State High Court involving additional allegations, stating that further proceedings will be scheduled. The ICPC said the charges were filed on March 18, 2026, and reiterated its commitment to due process.
