Police Arrest Suspects, Recover Rustled Cattle and Ammunition in Kaduna Operations

The Nigeria Police Force in Kaduna State says it has arrested suspected cattle rustlers and arms couriers, recovering 20 stolen cows and 200 rounds of ammunition in separate operations. In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansur Hassan, police said officers from the Dan Magaji Division in Zaria acted on intelligence on April 3 to intercept suspected rustled cattle at Kufena Unguwan Fulani.

Two suspects—identified as Abdulkadir Haruna, 30, and Buhari Hassan, 25—were arrested, and 20 cows were recovered. In a separate operation on April 1, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted a consignment of 200 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition concealed in a sack. The interception followed a tip-off from a driver who reported being asked to transport suspicious items.

Police said further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects in Katsina State, identified as Muhammad Salisu, 30, and Isah Audu, 40. According to the statement, the suspects allegedly admitted involvement in receiving the ammunition. Authorities said investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, noting that cattle rustling and arms trafficking pose risks to livelihoods and community security. He added that the command will continue intelligence-led operations to curb criminal activities in the state.
