Breaking: Bandits Abduct Five in Fresh Kaduna Millennium City Attack

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked Millennium City in Kaduna State, abducting no fewer than five persons.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night into the early hours of Wednesday at Dokan Mai-Jama’a in Millennium City, located in Chikun Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses said operatives of a Joint Task Force (JTF) rescued two of the victims, while the attackers escaped with three others to an unknown destination.

Details of the incident were still sketchy as of Wednesday morning, but the attack has triggered widespread reactions on social media, with residents alleging that such incidents have become frequent in the area with limited response from authorities.

A resident, identified as Alhaji Taju, said the community had repeatedly raised concerns about the presence of suspected kidnappers in nearby forests. He called for the establishment of security task forces at strategic points, including Yakowa Way and surrounding communities, to curb the attacks.

According to him, areas such as Mararaban Jos, villages around Chikun, Danhonu 2, and Sabon Gero require increased surveillance to prevent further incidents. He urged both federal and state governments to take urgent action, noting that similar security measures have proven effective in other parts of the state, including Kachia, Kajuru, Kagarko, Giwa and Birnin Gwari.

Residents also recalled a recent case involving the abduction of a retired photojournalist in the same area, who was later released after spending months in captivity.

As of the time of filing this report, the had yet to issue an official statement, while the command’s spokesperson, , could not be reached for comments.
