Urhobo political leaders on Wednesday endorsed as their preferred candidate for the 2027 Delta South Senatorial election.
The leaders described Orette as “a true leader and emancipator of the masses,” as well as “an epitome of truthfulness, consistency and firmness.”
They noted that communities across Delta South are backing his aspiration based on what they identified as four key qualities — capability, credibility, clout and loyalty.
According to them, the senatorial district requires a leader who understands the unique challenges facing its diverse communities and can drive meaningful development.
“We want someone who can transform Delta South and prevent it from drifting after 2027. We need a leader who will prioritise rural electrification, roads, agriculture, education, healthcare, employment and women empowerment,” the leaders stated.
In a statement read on behalf of Okere and Agbarha indigenes by the spokesman of Urhobo Progressives, , the group said Orette’s ambition reflects the collective desire of stakeholders in the senatorial district.
They also called on Ijaw, Isoko and Itsekiri leaders to set aside political differences and unite in support of his candidacy.
“Let us rise above our differences and support Orette. Let us come together to ensure that this humble leader and world-class medical doctor becomes our senator in 2027,” the statement added.
