In order to complete the Ilesa, Osun State, Water Supply Distribution Project, the Federal Government has approved and released of the sum of 41.94 million dollars for the project.
The Minister, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Sulaiman Adamu, stated this during the official flag off ceremony of the project in Ilesa Osun state.
Adamu said, the funds provided by the Islamic Development Bank, IDB, has 25years repayment period and 5 years moratorium.
The Minister added that the 65 million dollars Ilesa water project was inaugurated on the 18th December 2017 with 2 years completion period.
Adamu, noted that, the Federal Government has now fulfilled it’s own side of the agreement towards the water project.
In his address, the state Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola expressed appreciation to President Mohammad Buhari for releasing the funds and promised to reciprocate the gesture.
The governor, expressed satisfaction over the ongoing water project which he said would be completed very soon for the betterment of the people.
The governor who appreciated the unflinching support of the entire people of the state since he assumed the office assured of more dividends of democracy from the incoming administration of the governor elect, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Special Adviser (SA) on Water Resources and Supply to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Engr. Tawakalitu Williams, assured the public of timely completion of the project for the purpose of which it was embarked upon.
Also, the Project Coordinator, Engr Festus Omoniyi Osundina, commended the, Federal government, State governor and the Islamic Development Bank, IDB, for releasing the necessary funds needed for the project in order to increase the amount of water supply to the general public.
On completion, the project will produce 60 million litres of water per day for the entire residents in the Ijesa community.
