Shakeup in Police: Edo, Ondo, others get new Commissioners

There was a minor shakeup in the Nigerian Police Force which led to the movement of top shots in the Force in seven states of the federation and four other formations.

In a statement by the Force spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, the appointments which takes immediate effect is part of the ongoing efforts of the police to reengineer the system.

Edo and Ondo States where elections are billed to hold later this year were also not left out of the reorganization as their former Commissioners were replaced with Johnson Babatunde Kokumo and Bolaji Amidu Salami respectively.

Mba stated that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has ordered the immediate posting/redeployment of the Commissioners of Police to Commands/Formations.

The new Commissioners are CP Undie J. Adie for Osun State, CP Lawal Jimeta Tanko will be in charge of Bauchi State, CP Philip Sule Maku, moved to Ebonyi State , CP Ahmed Maikudi Shehu was posted to Gombe State and  CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu goes to Oyo State.

Others are CP Evelyn T. Peterside for Eastern Port, CP Okon Etim Ene take charge of EOD,

CP Bello Maikwashi for  Airport Command and CP Olukolu Tairu Shina  moved Anti-Fraud Unit (FCID Annex Lagos.

 Adamu charged the newly posted officers to ensure they consolidate and advance the gains of their predecessors particularly in the implementation of community-policing, crime prevention, public security, public safety and general crime fighting.

The IGP also enjoins the citizens of the affected states to cooperate with the Commissioners of Police to enable them succeed in their new areas of responsibilities.
