Phyno, Jude Okoye, Bumbo Oshin, others mourn death of reggae legend, Majek Fashek

Nigerian celebrities have taken to social media to mourn the death of reggae legend Majek Fashek aka Rainmaker.

Majek Fashek’s death was announced earlier today by his manager Omenka Uzo who stated that he died at a New York hospital.

“I have been getting pressure calls, well it is true that the African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker,” he said.

“Let celebrate him, his achievements, and his family, whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified.”

Some of the celebrities who mourned the death of the singer include Bimbo Oshin, Jude Okoye, Phyno, Sound Sultan etc.

Music executive, Jude Okoye wrote: “Rest peacefully, my Legend.”

Actress Bimbo Oshin wrote: Adieu Majek Fashek. May your journey well. The Rainmaker takes a final bow to the cold hands of death.

Phyno wrote: “Rest in peace, Legend.”

Sound Sultan had this on his page: “Rest in peace, power Majek.”

Actress Toyin Adegbola wrote: “Rest in peace, Majek.”

Yomi Black wrote:” Rest in peace, Majek Fashek.”

Majek Fashek was born in Benin City to an Edo Old Bendel State mother and an Ijesha father,(Osun State, Western Nigeria) but identifies with his Benin roots.

Various translations of his name Fasheke (Ifa-kii-she-eke) include “high priest who does not lie”, “powers of miracles” and “(system or medium of) divination does not lie”
