FG Should Enact A Law That Prosecute Illegal Felling Of Trees In Nigeria.

The federal government of Nigeria has been called upon to enact a law that would regulates incescent felling of trees in the country in order to meet the global policy on agro forestry as seen in other nations in the tropical regions.

In a press statement by agro forestry development association (AFDA) signed by the associations chairman Malam Sulaiman Umar and issued to our Daybreak news in Kano, the group warns that the increase in the felling of trees in Nigeria is worrisome because it may affects the country especially Sub-Saharan parts, therefore it is important to establish a law that would regulate felling of trees with immediate effect.

Furthermore, the group of foresters advised agro forestry stakeholders and other top ranking officials to bring out more ways of restoring national plantations in order to promote tourism industry that boost the nation” s economy like what is being seen in many countries that drive revenue from forested lands.

In addition, AFDA announces that they are now getting set to organise a grand tree planting campaign in some states where they are in needs of adequate tree species in order to restore the lost ones, where they also called on the local government councils to commence tree planting campaigns in order to bring back those that were felled illegally by the people.
