3 Notorious Drugs Dealers paraded in Jalingo

Three notorious drugs dealers with 19.8 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa has been arrested by men of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Taraba state Command.

Parading the suspects before newsmen in Jalingo, the commandant of the NDLEA, Samuel Azige said they were arrested early this month in different location in Jalingo metropolis.

According to the Commandant, the suspects paraded include, Abubakar Isah 27years old, Abubakar Suleiman 30 and Halilu Magaji 37 years old.

Samuel Azige said one of the suspects Halilu Magaji who is popularly known as Bebeto a graduate of Engineering at the Taraba state Polytechnic was converted after serving his jail term in Jalingo prison, retuned back to the illicit business.

Speaking on the achievement of the command in 2018, the commandant said 114 suspects including 2 females were arrested with cannabis sativa and assorted psychotropic substances weighing 563.29 kilograms adding that out of the suspects 13 were convicted to various jail terms.

Azige revealed that the command had step up strategies in educating and sensitized members of the public on the dangers of drugs abuse, saying most of the crisis and thuggery during campaigns and elections were influenced by drugs and called on people to support the command by providing useful information to reduce the menace especially now that election are fast approaching.

The commandant further said some youths indulged in the dastardly activities for lack of parental care and implored parents to stick to their parental responsibilities as well as monitor and provide the necessary needs to their children which include education, shelter and feeding to discourage them from involving in nefarious acts.

Speaking with our correspondent one of the suspects, Halilu Magaji, said he join drugs business for lack of job.
