Gov. Emmanuel tasks traditional rulers on peace

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has urged traditional rulers to channel their energies and wisdom towards enthroning peace and progress in the state.

Emmanuel who gave the charge on Wednesday during the inauguration of an ultra-modern Chambers of the State Council of Chiefs in Uyo said the edifice was constructed because of the great respect and regard he has for the traditional institution.

The governor said the building, would provide comfortable accommodation for monarchs in the state where they are expected to sit and deliberate on the progress, unity and peace of the state.

Speaking earlier, the supervisor of the project and executive Chairman Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Prince Enobong Uwah said the building was conceptualised with the aim of protecting the cultural heritage and pride of Akwa Ibom people.
”Whenever posterity will ask for your legacy this will forever serve, very profoundly, as one of them.
”The Traditional Rulers Chamber is conceived to have a state of the art auditorium with gallery, convenience facilities that takes care of the disabled, entertainment lounge, well furnished residential buildings, conference room and about 15 offices.” He said.

Meanwhile the state government has unveiled the official  logo, emblem, flag and anthem of the state as part of the activities to mark the  33rd anniversary of her creation. 

The official adoption of the logo and anthem was done in a ceremonial occasion held at the banquet hall, Government house, Akwa Ibom State. 

Out of 900 entries, three including that of Nsikak John who designed the state flag, Dr Iberedem Iwok  who came up with the state anthem and Mboutidem Ukpe who designed the official coat of arm were selected.

“We have made history that it was in our time that this was done. this may have been long overdue. but its Gods time. we must inculcate in our generation that element of boldness”. he said
