Lagos Reps caucus condemn violence protests nationwide

Ike Durumba

Lagos caucus of the House of Representatives has appealed to the youth to stop all protests across the country in the interest of peace and tranquility.

Briefing newsmen today, leader of the caucus, Hon. Dolapo Badru said their legitimate actions have been hijacked by others with premidated agenda using social media to misrepresent and spread fake news to incite violence, looting, vandalization of private and public assets.
He said the caucus condemn in its entirety the attacks on critical infrastructue explaining that as at yesterday, over 100 buses, fire stations, council secretariat, ambulances, fire fighting vehicles and banks have been reportedly burnt and private shops/stores looted.

According to him, the caucus also condemn in very strong term the invasion of the palace of the Oba of Lagos as it views it as an attack on the heritage of Lagos people and as a sacrilege.

“We appreciate and thank the Governor of Lagos State for his tireless, humane and responsive leadership at this critical time in our country as he has constantly played.
“We commiserate with all the families of all victims and pray that they be comforted”, he stated.
