Kogi Mega Terminal commence operations, Inaugurates Enforcement Task Force

Kogi State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Baron Okwoli has called for the cooperation of transport agencies in the country with the state government to enable it realize it’s noble objectives.

Okwoli made the call while declaring Kogi Mega Terminal open to serve as the only authorised location to conduct traveling activities of those from both the southern and northern part of the country.

The state also inaugurated a Joint Task Force to coordinate enforcement and adherence; making it compulsory for all public transporters to use the terminal for business.

The commissioner noted that the Administration of Governor Yahaya Bello has through this effort reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and security of citizens.

He pointed out that new things had been put in place through the inaugurated committee stressing that the operations of the Mega terminal would curb the incessant accident along the Lokoja – Felele highway as highly skilled personnel would be engaged to coordinate the activities at the Terminal.

The Commissioner added that following the commencement of operations, no vehicle would be allowed to pick or alight passengers along the Lokoja-Felele highway adding that every other mini, major parks and eateries were henceforth revoked.

Okwoli who thanked the National Union of Road Transport Workers, other Agencies and stakeholders for their cooperation with the state government towards actuallizing this laudable objectives, however, urged the NURTW to further mobilise its members towards the success of the New Mega Terminal.

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Northern Branch Chairman, Mr. Kolo Mohammed reiterating that the Union has informed their members of this innovation, urging the state government to ensure public compliance.

He pledged the cooperation of other Unions towards ensuring that the New Terminal was efficiently utilized as all stakeholder from various agencies would join in moving the state to enviable position.
