Gov. Bello Solicits Partnership Of Groups, Organisations To Fight Insecurity In The Society

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has called for partnership of individual and corporate organisations to curb the rising insecurity rate across the country.

Governor Bello  made the call on Monday through his Special Adviser in charge of security affair, Mr Jerry Omadara during the opening ceremony of a five – day training on “community Engagement between Stakeholders and Security Providers in Communities at Risk of Violence, Extremism” organized by  United Nations Development Programme  (UNDP) in collaboration with NOA.

The current security challenges that has bedeviled the nation according to him requires concerted effort from citizens and organisations to enable government at all level nip in the bud the menace of insecurity.

Governor Bello who warned Nigerians to always separate politics from security, charged parents to redouble their efforts in training their children in a Godly way, lamenting that most crimes committed in the society these days are mostly perpetrated by youth who suppose to be leaders of tomorrow.

He assured that his administration would not leave any stone unturn in giving support to organisations that has prioritize issue of security in Kogi State and commended partners like United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) for training stakeholders and communities in Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE)

The Governor who charged the participants to extend the knowledge acquired to other people in their localities, urged them to be an agents of change in their respective communities.

In his goodwill message the Kogi State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Mr Danladi  Maigari described the programme as timely at a time violent extremism was on the rise in the state.

Maigari called on security agencies in the state to work together in  order to reduce issue of insecurity to the barest minimum.

He urged UNDP to take the programme down to districts and wards across the state, saying most crises are targeted at national assets.
