By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

Two Gangs of notorious criminals operating mostly in Egume in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State on Saturday night met their waterloo when the Joint Taskforce of Neighborhood watch, vigilantes and local hunters repelled an attack.

The two criminals, Monday Mimiko, alias “Aneni the law” and Abu Billi, alias ‘Don German’ died during the crossfire with the security personnel while two others escaped with gunshot wounds around C.M.M.L Church Adumu-Egume burial grounds.

It would be recalled that this notorious gang members were sometimes last year chased out of the community when the crime waves of the area was rising above average and were allegedly involved in house-to- house robbery and Kidnapping and abating thefts in Egume and it’s environs.

Daybreak reliably gathered that with the new security architectures put in place  by Dekina council Chairman, Hon Ishaq Okolo in collaboration with the community Vigilante, Dekina is no longer a hiding place for criminals.

The criminal gang had been terrorizing the Okura axis of Dekina Local government areas for years engaging in kidnapping and armed robbery thereby preventing personalities from visiting their country homes during festivity and programmes.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer, Sylvester. A. said he was not competent to speak to the press on that matter stressing that all questions should be channelled to the PPRO.

Confirming the report, however, Dekina council chairman, Hon Ishaq Okolo said he was aware of the operation noting that the security operatives were acting on the instructions of the governor of Kogi State to fish out criminal elements wherever they are in the society.

Okolo urged members of the public to always give useful information that could lead to the arrest of criminals stressing that all hands must be on deck to ensure a crime-free society.
