2023: APC stands the better chances of taking over Taraba

By Danzumi Ishaku, Jalingo.

The former Acting Governor of Taraba state Garba Umar UTC, on Thursday said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) stood a better chance of taking over power in the state come 2023.

Garba UTC, made the declaration while speaking to Daybreak news in Jalingo.

He said that the party had more responsible members at present, adding that the shenanigan process which characterised selection of candidate for the party n the past would not come to play in the subsequent process.

Garba UTC, also pointed out that the mass decamping of politicians from other political parties into the APC in recent time was a pointer that the party would triumph in it’s quest to wrestle power from the PDP in the state.

The former acting governor however, called on the APC stalwarts to develop cohesion among themselves before and after all processes leading to the nominating and selection of candidates.

He therefore, called on members of the party to support whichever candidate that would emerge for the party in next election.

According to him, I am ready to support whoever that energies as the candidate for the party in next election.

UTC, declared that his quest to be the next governor of the state was to continue with those good projects he initiated while serving as the acting governor in the state.

He said that the people of the state were in dire need of a leader that would focus on human capital development and security.

He said that most areas of such had been neglected leaving the people of the state into abject poverty.

” It is now evident that our party, the APC stands a better chance of taking over power in the state in the coming election.

“As you can see that the party has more responsible and organised people now and I want to assure you that those things that have happened in the past will not happen again.

” We are growing from strength to strength as more people are decamping into our party day by day.

“We need people because it’s the people you have in a political party that gives the party the strength to be able to excel.

For me, I am the race to continue with those projects I started that have positive impact on the people.

” I learnt that most, if not all the project’s I started have being abandoned.

“Today, it’s on records that I am the last governor to pay gratuities, bursary allowances to students, boosting of security agencies in the state with patrol vehicles among many other things.

” I am advising our members to support whoever candidate that would emerge as candidate for the party.

“I am ready to support whoever that will emerge because we are all members of the party and in whatever we do, the interest of our party first.

“The state needs APC to rescue bad administration in the state,” Umar said.

Garba Umar, served as a deputy governor to late Danbaba Suntai.

He also held the position of acting governor when Suntai had an accident and was taken for treatment in Germany.
