By Ogenyi Ogenyi, Uyo

Akwa United FC of Uyo has formerly unveiled former Enyimba and Rivers United gaffer, Fatai Osho, as the new the coach of the NPFL club.

Osho guided the Promise Keepers to the senior finals at last month’s Naija Super 8 tournament in Lagos.

Club Chairman, Paul Bassey told newsmen at the official unveiling ceremony in Uyo on Wednesday that coach Osho fitted into the plans and visions of the management and that his contract will run for one year.

Bassey described the new coach as vibrant with over 12 years of experience in coaching, could win laurels to the team and make the state proud.

He pledged the support of the State Government, stakeholders and fans to make him succeed but charged him to ensure that the team would replicate it’s title winning form and qualify for the continent.

“This coach we are unveiling is a coach with his pedigree, with his experience is a coach that could take us to Eldorado.

“He is a coach that can return us to the continent, allow me to present to you Coach Fatai Osho. The coach has also worked with Remo Stars, Enyimba FC, Rivers United FC and we believed as he is here will win laurels.

“So, that is the coach we have gone for, fanatic with experience.” Bassey said.

Osho in his response thanked the state government for the contract and promised to take Akwa United to greater height.

He added that the only thing they team could add to the beauty of the stadium is result and success in wining matches.

“Anybody coming here will know that second place is already a failure, I remember my days in Enyimba, there if you come second you’ve actually failed.

“Now, l am with the Akwa United and the most important thing is winning matches. I can’t do this alone, so, I need your cooperation.

“I can only assure you that we’re going to work harder to achieve results.” Osho said.
