By Isaac Kertyo, Makurdi
Benue State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon Mathew Abo, who was kidnapped at his residence in Zaki-biam, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State recently, has regained his freedom early Thursday.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Tersoo Kula, said he has since been reunited with his family in Sankera, Ukum Local Government Area of the state.
” We can confirm that the Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon Mathew Abo has regained freedom” from his abductors.
According to the Chief Press Secretary, no ransom or any other monetary exchanges were involved in securing his release, adding that his release was as a result of intense pressure on the criminals from the gallant security operatives who were acting on the directives of  Governor Hyacinth Alia, who had earlier given marching orders to them to ensure, Mr Abo’s release.
The statement added, however that the criminals are still in custody of the former Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area, Mr Washima Elukaa, and his cousin who reportedly went to negotiate with the kidnappers and was also kidnapped.
” The Governor who has welcomed back the Commissioner, has warned criminals operating within the state to leave for good”, insisting that they won’t be tolerated in any way. He appreciated security operatives over their feat.
