Acting Governor Borno State, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur, has solicited for fervent prayers from all and sundry for the restoration of peace and harmony in the state and country at large.
The acting GOVERNOR made the appeal, Thursday, in a speech at the2021 eid-el-fitr celebrations in MAIDUGURI where he commended security agencies for their doggedness in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency
Governor Kadafur, promised to do his best to consolidate on achievements of his boss and expressed gratitude to Allah, governor, members of the state legislature and people of BORNO state.
It could be recalled that, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum is on holy trip to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj, thus making it possible for the Deputy GOVERNOR to act in the capacity of the state Governor.
Alhaji Kadafur, who was accompanied by the former Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima and other top government functionaries to perform this year’s Eid-el-FITR celebrations at the Ramat square prayer ground.
In another development, he said that, a day to the end of Ramadan fasting, some members of the insurgents made frantic efforts to infiltrate Maiduguri Metropolis purposely to disrupt the on-going preparations for the festivity, but with support from joint security forces and prayers from all and sundry, they were neutralized by gallant soldiers with the recovery of arms and ammunitions.
“I want to begin this address by thanking God Almighty for seeing us through the period of Ramadan Fast, which culminated into the peaceful Eid-El-Fitr celebration we are witnessing today.
“On behalf of our Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum and the good people of the state wish to congratulate the Muslim Ummah.
“I want to congratulate all of us for this peaceful Sallah celebration despite the security and economic challenges.
“As a matter of fact, all these challenges affecting our dear state would be surmountable in no distant time, Insha Allah.
“As responsible Government, we will not relent or rest on our oars towards ensuring peaceful coexistence amongst our diverse ethnic groups in the state.
“I want specifically commend our security agencies and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force for their doggedness in the fight against Boko Haram which led to the peaceful celebration of the Eid El Fitr across the state.
“I want to solicits for your support and prayers from all and sundry irrespective of religious faiths to continue to pray for good governance, restoration of peace and harmony in the state and the country as a whole.” Kadafur stated.
