The statement said the appointment was a demonstration of the President’s dedication to “inclusive governance” and
extended his appreciation to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, for his “tireless advocacy for the South South region.”

Edidem , who represents Itu state constituency, expressed the optimism that she would bring her vast wealth of experience and leadership skills to bear in her new role.

“I have no doubt that Ms. Usoro Akpabio will bring her wealth of experience and exemplary leadership to bear in steering the SSDC towards the realisation of its vision for sustainable development, growth, and prosperity in the region,” the Deputy Speaker said.

As chairman of the House Committee on NDDC and Regional Development, Edidem pledged his full support to the Commission, assuring of close collaboration to ensure meaningful progress across the South South.

He prayed that Akpabio’s tenure would be marked by impactful service and an enduring legacy.
