A’Ibom Police Command Begins ‘Operation Show Your Number Plate’

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command is set to commence what it termed ‘Operation Show Your Number Plate’ from Monday, November 2.

A statement issued by the spokesman of the command, SP Odiko MacDon on Sunday, November 1, said that the operation became necessary due to the blatant disregard for the lawful use of number plates in the state.

“In recent times, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has watched with stupfaction the fragrant disregard for the lawful use of number plates in the State. While some vehicle owners have continued to cover their number plates, some others do not even affix number plates in their vehicles, a trend which has made some persons to commit crimes and successfully absconded from prosecution,” the statement reads.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Amienghene Andrew is miffed at this development and has therefore directed that effective Monday, NOVEMBER 2, the Command will commence ‘ Operation Show Your Number Plate ‘

“He has therefore warned all those who have not registered their vehicles to do so immediately while those covering their number plates are to desist forthwith. He has further warned against the indiscriminate use of tinted glasses.

“It should be noted, that those found culpable will be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with extant laws.

“Let us remind ourselves of the fact that keeping Akwa Ibom State safe is a collective task. We must therefore pursue this task together.”
