As per the burial arrangements released by the family, the funeral rites began with the Ajabue traditional rite in Akeredolu’s hometown of Owo, the headquarters of the Owo Local Government Area. A Special Court Session was also held in his honor at Court 1 of the Ondo State High Court on the same day, with the Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, describing the late governor as a man of courage.

The funeral program includes a Lying in State and Commendation Service at the Akure Township Stadium, an Evening of Tributes at Saint Andrews Church in Owo, and a Service of Songs at St. Andrews Cathedral, Imola Street, Owo, on Thursday, February 22.
