Alleged Forgery: Kubwa General Hospital denies admitting Fani-Kayode

An Abuja General Hospital in Kubwa has denied the report that a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani- Kayode, was a patient in its facilities.
The former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode is standing trial before Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja, for alleged forgery.
Fani-kayode was charged before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 12-count charge bordering on forgery and fraudulent use of false documents.
According to the EFCC, Femi Fani-Kayode on October 11, 2021 in Lagos fraudulently procured one Dr. Ogieva Oziegbe to execute a document titled “MEDICAL REPORT ON Olufemi Fani Kayode 60 YEARS/MALE/ HOSP. NO.00345”and purported same to have been issued by Kubwa General Hospital.
At the resumed proceeding on Wednesday, Mr. Bassey Amah, who is the head of medical records at the Kubwa General Hospital, Abuja, told the court that Femi Fani-Kayode was at no time a patient of the hospital.
While being led in evidence by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, the first prosecution witness said, “Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode does not have a record with Kubwa General Hospital.” He said, “On October 3, 2021, Kubwa General Hospital received a letter from the EFCC to investigate the authenticity of a medical report on Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode.
He explained that the investigation by the hospital revealed that the defendant does not have a record with the facility. The document is not authentic.”
As Mr. Oyedepo sought to tender the letter of request by EFCC dated 3rd October, 2021 and the letter of response from Kubwa General Hospital dated 13th October, 2021, counsel representing the defendant, Mr. Norrison Quakers, SAN, objected to the admissibility of the documents as evidence.
