Am still SDP guber candidate for Imo, says Anyanwu

By Okechukwu Jombo

Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, for Imo State, Dr Casmair Anyanwu yesterday called on his supporters to ignore the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, listing of Chief Okey Eze as the candidate of the party saying he remains the SDP candidate and cannot be illegally substituted.

Anyanwu, who clearly won the governorship primary of the SDP said he had served INEC with court injunction not to substitute his name with any other name when he had the rumour that the leadership of his party was planning to trade off his mandate even before they posted Eze’s name.

He said a court of competent jurisdiction had restrained INEC not to take action they did and by posting the name they have disobeyed the court and has about fourteen days to obey or face the consequence.

He therefore called on all his supporters to be calm as every necessary action is been taken to reverse the illegality.

Anyanwu wondered why a man who is still in court over electoral primary of another political party would be given another party’s ticket when he is not even a member.

He swore that he will not trade the mandate for any amount and will do even thing to defend it.

The financial expert, who said he is in a mission to save the state which has been mismanaged by past leaders, stressed he cannot be intimidated and must get justice.

He promised to remove poverty from the state, wipe out hunger, pay salaries make the people proud by taking their shame away.

According to him, “I want to remove poverty; I want to remove hunger from them; I want to pay salary as and when due, I want to pay pensioners as and when due; a lot pensioners have died while waiting for their money. Imo people feel disgraced at this point in time. I want to bring pride back to the good people of Imo,” he said.
