Another Kano state Commissioner resigns, gives no reason

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Another Kano state Commissioner has resigned from his office, making the second one thrown in towels in this year 2025 alone.

The commissioner’s name is Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd), and he was Internal Security and Special Services,  has resigned from office.

Approval for his resignation has already been confirmed in a statement issued by the spokesperson to the State Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The spokesman stated that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has formally accepted the resignation, expressing appreciation for the retired Army General’s contributions during his tenure.

Meanwhile, he is the second person in Kano State Executive Council who has tendered his resignation in 2025, after the commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation,

Mohammed Diggol, who resigned earlier this year.

Major General Idris was appointed in August 2024 as the pioneer Commissioner of the newly created ministry. During his brief tenure, he played a key role in establishing the framework for the ministry’s operations.

In the official statement, Governor Yusuf commended Maj.-Gen. Idris for his dedication and service to the state.

“We thank Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd) for his unwavering commitment and contributions to the development of Kano State right from his days in the military career, we wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement as he transitions into a well-deserved rest from public service,” the governor said.

While no reason was given for his sudden resignation, the governor expressed confidence that his successor would build on the foundation laid by Idris to ensure the ministry operates effectively.
