The All Progressive Congress, APC in Akwa Ibom has said it won last weekend’s Gubernatorial and state Assembly in the state.

It has also rejected the result of the election as announced by INEC which declared Governor Udom Emmanuel of the PDP to be the winner after he defeated Obong Nsima Ekere of the APC.

State chairman of the party Mr Ini Okopido told a press conference in Uyo on Monday that the party won in 26 LGAs of the state but was denied by INEC in conspiracy with the PDP.

Results he said from the field showed that the party won in most polling units in the state as reflected by the support the party enjoyed during the campaigns.

“The result of the governorship and state House of Assembly elections in the state as obtained from our agents across the state clearly shows that the APC won in 26 out of the 31 LGAs of the state.

“That closeness was even possible because of the amount of underhanded tactics of the PDP, multiple voting, vote buying, deployment o violence of unprecedented dimension, arson and killings and in most areas snatching of ballot boxes and manifest manipulation and non use of the card reader machines to achieve their predetermined result.

“Therefore our party rejects the sham and fictitious result as announced by INEC in Akwa Ibom state as it was contrived, manipulated and concocted to suit the unholy alliance between the commission and the PDP.

“We rather insist on the result of the Elections from the field, which gave our party an overwhelming victory in 26 local government areas.

“The APC in Akwa Ibom hereby vehemently rejects the purpoted results as released by INEC in the state. We call in INEC to recourse to the part of honour to cancel the election results forthwith to avoid any breakdown other law and order.” He explained.

Okopido further said that the party would explore all legitimate means to retrieve its mandate.
