APC Secures Victory in All Chairmanship Seats in Ekiti Council Elections

In the council elections held on Saturday in Ekiti State, candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in all 38 chairmanship and 177 councillorship seats. The declaration was made by the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC) at its headquarters in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday.

Returning Officers for both local government areas and local council development areas presented the election results, showcasing the APC’s dominance in all contested positions.

Retired Justice Cornelius Akintayo, the Chairman of EKSIEC, praised the electorate in Ekiti for ensuring a peaceful election. He commended participating parties for their sportsmanship, as well as EKSIEC staff, security agents, and the media for their exemplary contributions.

The political parties involved in the election included Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Congress (ADC), African Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The presentation of election results saw the participation of EKSIEC commissioners and principal officers, with Akintayo expressing gratitude for the successful conduct of the election. Notably, prominent opposition parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had previously announced their disinterest in the council elections.
