Armed Forces Day: Governor Ododo Calls for Unity and Support for Fallen Heroes’ Families

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has urged Nigerians to unite in sustaining the peace achieved under President Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He made this call on Wednesday during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration after laying wreaths at the World War I and II Cenotaph in Lokoja.

Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the military and families of fallen heroes. He announced the approval of free enrollment for the families of fallen soldiers in the Kogi State Health Insurance Scheme.

“As we honour our gallant men who protected Nigeria’s sovereignty and gave their lives so we may live in peace, we remember them and pray that Almighty Allah forgives their shortcomings,” the governor said.

He praised the fallen heroes for their dedication to peace, unity, and hope, pledging continued support for the Armed Forces and their families. “We stand with the wives and children of our fallen heroes, providing free healthcare through the Kogi State Health Insurance Scheme,” he added.

Governor Ododo also highlighted his administration’s prioritization of military support, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the government and the armed forces to maintain peace and stability across the nation.

Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed annually on January 15th, marks the end of the Nigerian Civil War in 1970. The governor paid tribute to the sacrifices of fallen soldiers, acknowledging their bravery and selflessness.

He commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for his dedication to fostering peace and unity in Nigeria, describing his leadership as exceptional.

Governor Ododo’s approval of free healthcare enrollment for fallen heroes’ families underscores his administration’s commitment to honoring their legacy and supporting those they left behind.
