Army Destroys 22 Lakurawa Camps, Recovers Arms in Sokoto and Kebbi

The Nigerian Army’s special brigade has neutralized numerous Lakurawa bandits and dismantled 22 of their camps in Sokoto and Kebbi states, marking a significant victory in the fight against banditry.

This was revealed by the Theatre Commander of Operation *Fansan Yamma*, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, during a briefing in Sokoto on Friday. Represented by Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, Acting General Officer Commanding the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army Sokoto, Soyele shared details of the operation.

He explained that the special operation brigade was deployed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to intensify efforts against the Lakurawa bandits. The operation, titled *Forest Sanity III: Chase Lakurawas Out*, has recorded substantial successes through targeted offensives against the criminal sect.

Addressing the troops, Soyele urged them to maintain professionalism, adhere to the rules of engagement, and prioritize the safety of law-abiding citizens while continuing the operation. He emphasized that the mission’s objective is the complete eradication of the Lakurawa bandits in the region.

Soyele further noted that the troops involved in the operation were specially trained and selected for this mission, with the nation counting on their expertise to restore peace and security in Sokoto and Kebbi states.
