Army to Demolish Unserviceable Ammunition in Akwa Ibom

The 2 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has announced plans to commence the demolition of unserviceable ammunition and explosives at the 6 Battalion Range Area in Abak Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

In a statement issued in Uyo, Adebowale Adejimi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, stated that the exercise is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, September 10, to Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Adejimi advised residents of Abak to avoid the designated exercise area during this period and to remain calm in response to the sounds of the demolition. He assured that comprehensive security measures have been implemented to safeguard lives and property in the vicinity.

“The demolition of unserviceable ammunition and explosives will occur at the 6 Battalion Range Area in Abak Local Government Area, from Tuesday, September 10, to Thursday, September 19, 2024. The residents are requested to stay clear of the designated area and not to panic at the sounds of the explosives. Adequate safety and security measures have been established for the duration of the exercise,” the statement read.
