Arteta Plays Down Rosenior’s Complaint Over Arsenal Staff Conduct

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has dismissed concerns raised by Liam Rosenior regarding the behaviour of Arsenal’s coaching staff, saying the issue has already been settled and is not unusual in modern football.

Rosenior had accused members of Arsenal’s backroom team of encroaching into his side’s technical area during pre-match warm-ups, describing the action as disrespectful and a distraction for his players. He later voiced his displeasure publicly, sparking debate over touchline conduct and professional etiquette.

Addressing the matter on Friday, Arteta confirmed that Arsenal had dealt with the situation and issued an apology. “We apologise and that’s it,” he said. “It’s very common in football.”

The Arsenal boss downplayed the incident, suggesting that such minor confrontations are commonplace in high-pressure match environments and not worth escalating. He added that the club had no intention of allowing the issue to develop into a broader dispute.

While clearly unhappy about the episode, Rosenior was careful to distance his criticism from Arsenal’s players, stressing that his complaint was directed solely at certain members of the coaching staff.

The incident has reignited discussion about respect, boundaries during warm-ups, and the standards expected of coaching personnel on matchdays. However, Arteta made it clear that Arsenal are keen to move on swiftly and refocus on upcoming fixtures and on-field priorities.
