Sunday Igboho Vows to Sack Killer Herdsmen in Ogun

A Yoruba rights activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho yesterday stormed some parts of Ogun State and vowed to flush out killer herdsmen in the troubled areas in the state.

However, the Ogun State Government yesterday refuted reports insinuating that it had enlisted the help of Igboho, to combat crimes in the state

Igboho had a brief interaction with his supporters in Abeokuta, the state capital, before he later proceeded to Ketuland where some soldiers allegedly connived with herdsmen to flog some farmers for not allowing them grazing their cattle on their farms in Yewa-North Local Government Area of the state.

While addressing his followers in Abeokuta, the activist said, “I observe there is an injustice from the herdsmen because they know the power that they have in the federal government. So, they behave as if Yoruba people are nobody. They kill our people, they kidnap our people, and they rape our women.”

“Any Fulani herdsman who engages in kidnapping would be flushed out,” Igboho vowed.

When asked whether he would limit his activism to Igangan, his hometown in Oyo State, Igboho said, “Not only Igangan, we are going to visit all Yorubaland and ensure there is peace everywhere.”

The activist lauded the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for allowing him in the state.

Appreciating the gesture, the activist said, “We have not visited the governor, we will do that after we have flushed the Fulani herdsmen out of the state.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Government yesterday refuted reports insinuating that it had enlisted the help of Igboho, to combat crimes in the state.

This was just as it reiterated its commitment to the security of all residents and properties.

The government made its position known in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odusile, in Abeokuta.

Refuting the news report credited to the Special Adviser on Public Communication to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Mr. Remmy Hazzan, Odusile noted that his (Hazzan’s) virtual interview with a reporter “had been quoted out of context and twisted to achieve sensational effects”.

The statement said, “In the interview, Hon Hazzan had said that the state government, in its usual inclusive approach to governance, would continue to work with all the stakeholders, both within and outside the state, to ensure security of lives and properties.

“Sadly, however, this statement was disingeniously twisted to mean that the State had invited Mr. Adeyemo to help curb insecurity. This is regrettable and totally misleading.

“Prince Dapo Abiodun’s Administration, since inception, has been known to be inclusive in its approach, always collaborating and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.

“Security is no exception, resulting in the achievement of the enviable status and recognition as most secure state in the country by many organisations, including the recent Award by Business Day Newspaper, among others.”

Insecurity: Oil firms can’t return to N’Delta – Timipre Sylva

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, has said asking oil companies to relocate to the Niger Delta without addressing the security concerns will only escalate Nigeria’s cost of crude oil production.

Sylva said this on Monday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, at a special town hall meeting organised by the state government and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources with chiefs, youths and other stakeholders in the state, according to a statement by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board.

Sylva expressed the Federal Government’s commitment to the development of Bayelsa and other states of the Niger Delta.

Responding to calls for the relocation of oil companies to the Niger Delta region, the minister said youths and residents of the region must eschew restiveness and work for peace and security as preconditions for multinationals to relocate.

He said, “We look at it from the perspective of cost. It will be cheaper for oil companies to operate from here because it is nearer from the operating areas.

“The only concern is that we have a responsibility to bring peace and security because that is another source of cost.

“If you don’t have peace and security and the oil companies move back here, then you add to the cost of oil production.”

According to Sylva, it will make sense to the oil companies to return if the environment is safe because it will be cheaper for them.

“They were here before. Shell was in Port Harcourt and Warri and most of other companies were here. They only ran away when insecurity took over the region. It is time to bring back peace and security so that those firms can return. On our part as the ministry, we are not against the oil companies moving back,” he added.

President Buhari has no right to condemn the Eastern Security Network- Nnamdi kanu

    Daily Post Nigeria

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said President Muhammadu Buhari has no right to condemn the Eastern Security Network, ESN.

Kanu said both Buhari and governors lacked the moral right to criticize the security outfit recently launched by IPOB.

In a series of tweets, the IPOB leader wondered why the Buhari-led government would not prosecute terrorists but granted them pardon.

He also faulted the decision of the Nigerian Army to rehabilitate terrorists.

Kanu wrote: “When your President does not prosecute TERRORISTS but pardons and gives them scholarships. When your Governors negotiate with and BANDITS and pay them.

“When your security agencies rehabilitate terrorists and induct them in your Army. They lose the moral right to traduce #ESN. We move!”.

President Buhari Delays Appointment Of New IGP

The Presidency on Monday said no date has been fixed for the appointment of a new Inspector -General of Police .

The incumbent IGP , Mohammed Adamu , was expected to leave office on Monday , having attained the statutory retirement age .

However, Adamu was in office till past 6 pm on Monday and attended to a large number of visitors .

Findings indicate that he did not hand over to any senior officer as expected. The President was supposed to convene a meeting of the Police Council which has the mandate to appoint a new IG.

Findings , however, indicate that the council which comprised the President , state governors and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission , merely adopts whomever is appointed as IGP by the President , contrary to its prescribed roles .

Speaking on Channels television ’s Sunrise Daily, Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu said he was not aware of the imminent announcement of a new police chief .

He stated , “ The President returns to Abuja ( from Katsina) on Tuesday . He should be on his desk by Wednesday . I don ’t know when he will do this . One thing I can assure you is that in places sensitive like that, there is no vacuum that will subsist, so therefore , the system will take care of itself . ”

Shehu also stressed that the appointment of the next IGP will not be based on ethnic considerations.

“ The President will rather have an Inspector -General of Police who will make you and I safer , protect life and property than one who is more pronounced by his tribal marks ,” he noted.
Shehu said it is impracticable for top security appointments to be made based on factors such as ethnicity or regions .

The spokesman added that the appointment will be based on who can best help to protect lives and property across the country .

Malawian Man Dies From ‘Extreme Orgasm’ After Having Sex With Prostitute

Man, 35, dies from ‘extreme orgasm’ after passing out as he romped with sex worker

A MAN has died from an “extreme orgasm” after passing out while he romped with a sex worker.

The 35-year-old, named in a police report as Charles Majawa, lost consciousness after having sex with the woman in the trading district of Phalombe, Malawi.

The man, 35, died following his session with a sex worker in Phalombe, Malawi

He died shortly after doing the deed – and a postmortem has officially determined the cause of death as an excessive orgasm.

The working woman decided to report the death to police after speaking with her colleagues.

Cops and a medical examiner from Migowi Health Centre viewed the body and confirmed the cause of death on August 18 last year.

A postmortem report listed the cause of death as being due to “excessive orgasm which caused blood vessels in the brain to rupture.”

Cops confirmed that the woman would not be held liable for Mr Majawa’s death.

They also added that no charges would be made related to his death.

Senior Chief Kaduya reports that Mr Majawa’s body was taken back to his home village of Matepwe.

According to local newspaper Nyasa Times, the man “died of too much sexual excitement and sweetness.”

Innocent Moses, a Phalombe Police Station spokesperson, confirmed that Mr Majawa booked a room with the sex worker, but “ended up collapsing and becoming unconscious while in the act.”

  • Wike tackles Buhari over refusal to sign amended electoral act

Wike tackles Buhari over refusal to sign amended electoral act

Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike has tackled President Muhammadu Buhari for not assenting to the amended electoral act before the 2019 general elections.

Wike, who spoke during an interview on Channels Television in Port Harcourt, said for the nation to move forward, elections needs to be transparent and all votes are counted.

“Why didn’t the President sign the last amendment Electoral Act, why? Because APC as a party had informed the president that if you sign this electoral amendment, you are likely to lose the election,” Wike said. “Therefore, don’t sign it. And of course, the president did not sign the electoral amendment act.

“I am not carried away by the antics of the National Assembly. They all know what will make the country to move forward. One, make the election to be transparent by ensuring that all votes are counted. You can achieve that by allowing the card reader to function. So that the figures recorded on the card reader should tally with the transmitted figures.”

Wike said the National Assembly members are often preoccupied about the next election, so they tend to skew the electoral amendment act to benefit their interest and that of their political party.

The governor said an amendment of the electoral act by the National Assembly will be mere charade if card reader is not to be used to determine the validity of every vote cast.

The governor observed that several attempts to achieve a credible electoral reform had been mired by overriding personal ambition of persons with vested political interest within and outside the National Assembly.

On security, the governor advised the new service chiefs to shun politics and concentrate on strategy that will enable them to end insurgency in the country .

Wike noted that lots of Nigerians had lost confidence in the former service chiefs, thus, the clamour for Buhari to sack them. He applauded Buhari for listening to citizens.

“They must understand that challenges are enormous and so they have a lot of work to do. They should not concern themselves with politics,” Wike said.

Governor Wike accused former Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Yusuf Buratai of political bias.

He cited the arrest and detention of recruits of the Rivers State Neighbourhood Watch Safety Corps who were undergoing training at the National Youth Service Corp orientation camp at Norwan in Rivers State by the Nigerian Army on the directive of the then Chief of Army Staff.

The governor described Buhari’s claim that the security situation in the country has improved far beyond what the situation was when he assumed office in 2015 as erroneous.

“Things have gone very bad,” Wike said. “Everybody knows that insecurity has reached the level where everybody was saying change the service chiefs. If it was good, nobody will call for their sack. Even in his party, the APC said the insecurity has gotten to a level we cannot bear again.”

Wike pointed out that despite the withdrawal of $1 Billion, estimated to be above N450 Billion from the excess crude account to procure armament to fight the insurgents, security has continued to deteriorate.

Speaking on the issue of community policing, the governor noted that both the federal government and the police high command are playing politics with the scheme.

“If you want this country to move forward, it is important that the States must take control of security apparatus of their state,” Wike said.

“I know the local governments, I know the communities, I know the families. So I should be able to say this is what we should do in policing these areas. Therefore, the need for community policing is necessary, but what is the problem is that the federal government comes up to say, they will support community policing, but where have they supported it.”

“The police itself will say, oh we are interested in community policing. Let me tell you what happened in my State. They said they want to do community policing and they called traditional rulers to seek their cooperation.”

  • Court summons IGP Adamu to appear February 4 over alleged disregard to lawful order

Court summons IGP Adamu to appear February 4 over alleged disregard to lawful order

A Federal High Court, Abuja has ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to appear before it on February 4, 2021, over his alleged continued disobedience to a lawful order of the court.

The police boss is to show cause in court why contempt charge should not be filed against him over alleged disobedience to a court order.

The trial judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, issued the summon against the IGP following the alleged refusal to reinstate a forcefully retired Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Mr Patrick Okoli.

The court had voided and set aside the forceful retirement of Okoli from the force on the ground that due process of law was not followed in the purported retirement.

Although the police contested the High Court judgment at the Court of Appeal, it lost as the appellate court affirmed the decision of the lower court.

In compliance with the Court of Appeal decision, DCP Okoli was reinstated and latter retired compulsorily by the police authorities.

In form 48 filed against the IGP, the police authorities were accused of toying with an order of court deliberately and leave of court to file contempt charge against the police chief was sought.

Justice Ijeoma after listening to arguments canvassed by Mr Arinze Solomon Eggo, counsel to the applicant, issued an order directing the IGP to appear before her court on Thursday, February 4, 2021

An enrol order signed by the judge read in part “an order of this court is hereby made mandating the Inspector General of Police to appear before this court on the 4th day of February 2021 at 9 am to show cause why a contempt proceeding should not be taken against the Inspector General of Police for refusal to obey the judgment of the court in this matter which judgment was affirmed by the Court of Appeal.

“This summons shall be served forthwith, the judge held and subsequently fixed February 4 for the IGP to appear before the court.
