In a distressing incident, approximately 40 bandits invaded the Kawu community in Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, and abducted 23 individuals. The assailants reportedly emerged from the Kuyeri Forest in Kaduna State and targeted the community on Thursday.

Abdulmumini Zakari, the Councilor representing the area and deputy speaker in the council, shared details of the attack. He revealed that the bandits, divided into groups, targeted prominent figures, including the son and wife of the district head, Lukman, and his newlywed wife. Additionally, the Marafa of Kawu, Alhassan Kawu, and the Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa, along with their family members, were among those abducted.

FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, stating that the criminals raided the community and fled towards Kaduna State. This incident follows closely on the heels of other abductions, indicating an alarming trend of insecurity in the region.

The authorities are working to address the situation and ensure the safe return of the abducted individuals.
