Bandits attack Zamfara speaker’s hometown, kill 3

The hometown of the Speaker Zamfara state house of assembly Magarya, was last Tuesday night attacked by bandits claiming three lives and unquantified number of properties destroyed. 

Magarya is a village Community under Kanwa district of Zurmi local government and is the hometown of the Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon.  Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya.  

According to witnesses,  the bandits in their usual criminal attack,  besieged the unsuspecting community in the night hours and begun to launch a house-house attack,  setting ablaze many houses and food silos and in the process,  killing three people. 

The witness further said the bandits had also rustled large number of cattle and sheep worth millions of naira. 

Hon.  Speaker Nasiru Magarya had,  the following Wednesday,  visited the area to sympathize and assess the magnitude of damage done by the attack. 

Meanwhile the state government after its council meeting Yesterday,  announces its resolve to maintain both the military and dialogue approach as sure ways of handling the menace of banditry in the state. 

The secretary to the state government Alhaji Bala Bello Maru who led a team of commissioners to announce the policy,  explains that the resolution by the state government followed a unanimous agreement by all the stake holders,  including the traditional chiefs,  the Ulamas, government officials,  other institutions and all the various security organs to maintain the dialogue approach. 

Hon. Bala Maru noted that the dialogue approach has player a workable role in the liberation process of the 345 Kankara secondary school students abducted by bandits,  in which not a single kobo was paid for their release.
