The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued three kidnapped minors and arrested three suspects in Kaduna.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Those rescued were identified as Aslam Umar Lukman (14), Suleiman Umar Tanko (12), and Aliyu Umar Tanko (10). They were freed at Sabon Layi, Kurmin Mashi, along Calabar Road in Kaduna North.
According to the statement, the children were kidnapped on 25 August at about 1:45 p.m., with the abductors demanding a ransom of ₦50 million. Their father reported the incident to the police the following day.
Operatives, through intelligence gathering and tactical communication, lured the kingpin, Richard Philip, out of the hideout, leading to his arrest. During interrogation, Philip confessed and named his accomplices, Ibrahim Ma’aruf (18) and Abubakar Sadiq (15). The children were found at his residence.
“Acting on credible intelligence, the police stormed the location, arrested the culprits, and rescued all three victims unhurt. The children have since been reunited with their family by the Commissioner of Police,” the statement added.
Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He urged parents to remain vigilant and assured residents that criminality in the state will be met with decisive action.
