Bayelsa : Tarabina commends contractors for quality, pace of work

The Chairman of the Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Ebiye Tarabina has commended contractors handling government projects for the quality of work and milestones achieved on the projects.
Engr. Tarabina made the commendation during an inspection visit to ongoing project sites in the state on Monday November 22, 2021.

At the Sagbama-Ekeremor road project chairman lauded the company handling the project, Setraco for the pace of work.

He re-iterated the Governor Douye Diri’s commitment in fulfilling his electoral promises, adding that the Prosperity administration was determined to deliver quality projects that would stand the test of time.

The Project Manager of the company, Mr. Julien Alhelou, explained that stonebase and asphalt at various stages while all the four bridges on the road would be accessible by next month.

At the Yenagoa/Oporoma road project the chairman commended the company handling the project, CCECC for the milestones recorded on the project adding that when completed it would open the frontiers of development to the rural dwellers.

The project manager of the company, Engr. PM Lee said 20 kilometres has been cleared, out of the 35kilometers of the road, left two kilometre before Angiama River, and 20kilometers sand stabilization has been achieved on the project, while remaining two kilometres to Angiama river would be cleared shortly.

The chairman also inspected the glory drive to government house, the Igbogene/AIT outer ring road projects.
On Igbogene/AIT outer ring road, the project manager, Engr. Ralph said the project would be completed before February 14, 2022.

Earlier, the chairman inspected some completed and ongoing internal roads projects includes St. John’s primary school road, ogbogoro, the ongoing Doncont street, Amarata, the Amalala close, off bakery road, Azikoro town, Rev. Asingba road, behind First Banizue-Gene, the ongoing Akoi street, off Barrath road, Yenizue-gene, the completed Dimieari street also off Barrath road in Biogbolo.

The team also inspected the ongoing Egili road, Yenizue-Epie, the completed Nengi road, off Saipem, Opolo, the completed Akali road, Etegwe, the completed road off Okutukutu school road, Okutukutu.

Other projects inspected include: the ongoing old Etegwe road, off Tombia/Amassoma, Etegwe, the completed Chief Kia road, Ede-Epie, the ongoing Ebikederi/Assemblies of God Church road, Akenfa and the Glory of God drive, road Igbogene.

Engr. Tarabina, who lauded the contractors handling the Rev. Asingba road project behind First Bank Yenizue-Gene and the Old Etegwe road project, off Tombia/Amassoma Etegwe, for the level and quality of work done so far, urged the contractors to increase the pace of work for the timely completion of the projects.

He urged contractors to provide appropriate drains for the channelling of water along such roads as well as erect sign post at Project sites for easy identification of the projects as stated in the contract agreement.

The Chairman of the directorate urged all contractors handling projects in the state to execute their jobs according to specification noting that the directorate will leave no stone unturned.

A resident of the old Etegwe road, off Tombia/Amassoma, Etegwe, and chairman of the landlords forum, Mr. Douye Ikputu lauded the company, Tari-pat International handling the old Etegwe road for the display of professionalism and high sense of commitment on the job, stressing that the project will impact positively on the socioeconomic status of the people, as well as raduce criminality, and provide access to residents.

He commended the Governor of the state, Sen. Douye Diri for the construction of the road aimed at improving the standard of living of the people and expressed his appreciation to the chairman of the directorate for the inspection to ensure compliance by the contractors.

The contractor, Mr. Tari-Patric Zidougha handling the old Etegwa road project appreciated Governor Douye Diri for the award of the contract noting that, with the commitment of the present administration on infrastructural development, the project would be completed on schedule.

The chairman was accompanied by members of the board, Engineers, heads of Departments, amongst others.
