Benue Sports Commissioner Directs SWAN Factions To Suspend Elections

By Isaac Kertyo, Makurdi

Commissioner of Youths, Sports and Creativity in Benue State, Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, has directed all factions of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Benue State Chapter to suspend all planned elections with immediate effect.

Mr Ikyange, in a statement, expressed dismay over the continued existence of factions within the state chapter of SWAN, stressing that this has greatly affected the coverage of sports activities in Benue State.

The Commissioner, explained that the decision to suspend the planned elections by both factions, was to allow him time to wade into the matter with the view to resolving it in the interest of the association and sports reportage in the state.

He pointed out that as a way of resolving all the issues and a forging a united front, he will soon be meeting with the two factions of SWAN in the state to amicably resolve the misunderstanding.
