All Progressive Congress (APC) Borno state,has adopted the unopposed mode of elections at the ward, council and state levels of their congresses.
Our man reported that,stakeholders of the party endorsed the decision during a meeting, Tuesday, at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Government House, Maiduguri.
The motion was moved by the state Deputy GOVERNOR,Usman Umar Kadafur,seconded by a legislator,Alhaji Abdu of the Borno State House of Assembly and thereafter put to a voice-vote to ratify the adoption.
The stakeholders, included members of the National and State Assembly who unanimously agreed for consensus or unopposed mode of elections at ward, council and state levels.
In a remark,Governor Babagana UMARA Zulum,charged the stakeholders to strictly abide by the party rules and regulations during the Congresses slated for Saturday, July 30, 2021.
“Non-compliance with election rules and regulations have resulted in litigation in some states,”and warned the stakeholders not to engage in any acts that could threaten the unity of the party in the state.
On party leadership, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, said: “We are used to the adoption of consensus in electing party leaders at the ward, council and state levels.”
Equally, Sen. Kashim Shettima, Borno central and former governor of Borno state, emphasized inter-alia;“We’ve already resolved as a family to adopt the consensus mode of congress elections, which is allowed by the party constitution.
Pointing out that, all the segments of the party will have a sense of belonging, as stakeholders have always acted as a united political party.
