Borno govt inaugurate vocational centre

Deputy Governor of Borno state, Alh.Umar Usman Kadafur, Tuesday, inaugurated a Vocational Training Centre which was rehabilitated by German International Co-operation, GIZ, an international non-governmental organization, INGO, and European Union, EU, in collaboration with Borno state government, located at Mafoni ward of Maiduguri, the state capital.

The centre,when fully utilised, will address youth restiveness as it’s major concern would be to arrest youth unemployment by providing skills acquisition,thereby empowering jobless youths.

According to the Deputy Governor ,who represented his principal,Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum,said that,it’s against this backdrop that government intends to establish Technical and Vocational Training Centers in the three Senatorial Zones across the state.

These Vocational Centres,when established would train and empower the growing number of unemployed youths in the State.
Hear him,” Today marks another historic day in our quest to empower our unemployed youths. The major issue of concern is to relate to youth unemployment and lack of appropriate Skills Acquisition Centers.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank German International Cooperation (GIZ) and European Union (EU) for rehabilitating the Vocational Training Centre, and as we collectively strive to reposition Borno in this post-insurgency period, the names of these iNGOs and other humanitarian partners would be written in Gold.

“In as much as we the Government and people of Borno state expressed gratitude for all the supports from our development partners, I would like to appeal for an extension of this support programme to other communities, as we now migrate from humanitarian concern to that of economic recovery and stabilization and to Fastrack sustainable development,” Kadafur said.
