Buhari Urges Stakeholders to Ensure Successful Execution of FG’s Special Public Works programme

Presidnt Muhammadu Buhari has sued for commitment from Stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of the Federal Government’s Special Public Works program.


Buhari who made the call at the flag-off of the extended Special Public Works program for Benue in Makurdi at the weekend described the program as a strategy to engage 774,000 unemployed youths to execute selected projects across all the local governments in the country. 


The President who was represented by the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Sen. George Akume said the Federal Government would monitor to ensure effective implementation of the program.


Also speaking, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom called for  sustenance of the ESPW program beyond its time limit of three months  to make it a career program for the Youths.
Ortom who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu noted that it was the responsibility of government to ensure development of the Youths to help them stay away from all forms of criminality and contribute their quota to the development of the state and nation. 


He described the policy which involves skills acquisition and stipends for the twenty three thousand Benue people as a good idea to improve their economic situation and that of the state in general. 


The Governor charged the beneficiaries of the program to embrace it with the right attitude in order to achieve the desired results.Ends
