Ombatse: Withness absents distort judgement of 84 killings of security personnel

    By Abel Leonard Nzwanke/lafia

The absence of a witness has stalled the hearing on the killing of 84 security personnel who were allegedly murdered by the outlawed Ombatse cult group in Alakyo Village of Nasarawa State.

Daybreak news reports that 74 operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and 10 personnel of Department of State Security Service were allegedly murdered by the Ombatse militia in Alakyo village on May 7, 2013.

Our correspondent also recalled that one Enugu Baba, a police corporal and three others are also accused of having a connection to the killings of the security personnel.

Addressing the High Court 1 on Wednesday in Lafia, Williams Akika, the prosecuting counsel said that the third witness was out of the country.

The prosecuting counsel, however, requested for an adjournment to enable them to present the witness as soon as he returns.

On his part, Emmanuel Kuza, defence counsel expressed frustration over what he described, as “undue delay” by the prosecuting counsel.

He added that the case had suffered unnecessary delay at the instance of the prosecuting counsel.

He said that the defendants had been in detention since 2013 without much progress being made on the case.

According to him, the persecuting counsel had only called two witnesses since 2013.

He added that the court had opposed the bail application of the defendants despite their ill health.

He said that the court should reconsider their bail application to enable the defendants who are critically ill seek medical care.

After listening to their arguments, Justice Suleiman Dikko, Chief Judge of the state who is the presiding judge, adjourned the matter to November 4 for the continuation of hearing.

The CJ also admonished the prosecuting counsel to ensure that he presents the witness on the adjourned date.

#BBNaija Day 89: “You Smell” Mercy

Ever wondered what it would look like with Mercy and Tacha in a wrestling ring?

In what may have started off as a pretty chilled morning, Mercy and Tacha got into the most intense fight that has ever gone down in the history of the Pepper Dem Season.

We gathered the hottest quotes from this heated fight between the two and here’s what we found…

    “You’re a clout chaser.”

“You’re nothing but an Instagram beggar.”

“You’re using a boy to gather highlights.”

We also had a quote or should we say tune from the Pepper Dem observers as the fight went on. On this table sat Seyi and Frodd as they begged Biggie for water to quench the fire in the House.

“Fire, fire, give us plenty water, make we quench fire.”

    “I’m a finalist, I can’t give you cheap attention.”

“I’m bold, black and beautiful, unlike you.”

    “Ambassador of black knuckles.”

    “You don expire, old cargo.”

“I refuse to leave the House for this smelly thing.”

“I won’t claim virgin and be carrying saggy boobs everywhere.”

“If you want to change your skin, do it right, not left.”

The Pepper Dem fights are as much a part of the House as the Arena Games and Saturday Night parties. However, we’re sure Biggie’s House won’t forget this fight in a hurry and neither will we.

Anti-Graft War: NFF chieftains to know fate November 5

    By Mike Oboh

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned the corruption case brought against the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation by the scrapped Special Presidential Investigative Panel (SPIP) to November 5 to give her verdict on the case.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu had on Thursday declared that the case was political and she was not interested in politics and adjourned the case to November 5, 2019, to give the court’s position on the matter.

Although Justice Ojukwu was not happy with the absence of the five NFF executives in court, after being briefed by counsel to the NFF, Barrister Sani Katu, she declared that she saw nothing in the case and that the defendants should have shown up in court.

Barrister Katu informed her Lordship that the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria has terminated and dissolved the SPIP that brought the case before the court and in the absence of the prosecutor, the case file is now with the Attorney-General of the Federation and other files are also in transition.

Following Katu’s statement, Justice Ojukwu stated that if the defendants had appeared in court, and in the absence of the scrapped SPIP, she would have released the defendants. She then adjourned the case to November 5.

Speaking after the adjournment, Barrister Abubakar Musa, Senior State Counsel in the Ministry of Justice said that with the pronouncement that SPIP is no longer functional and disbanded by the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, every case brought by the SPIP is now under the office of the Attorney General of the Federation.

“According to the instructions of the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, the AGF is taking over the matter and all the files are supposed to be in transition,” Barrister Musa said.

“The court cannot be blamed. The Attorney General of the Federation is the chief law officer of the state and he is bound to be sure that the Federal Republic of Nigeria obey the court order, but he is not aware of the order and if he is not aware of it, you cannot say he is bound to bring the defendants.”

  • #BBNaija Day 89: Cindy’s Shocking Eviction

    #BBNaija Day 89: Cindy’s Shocking Eviction

It’s been a crazy week in Biggie’s House and with today’s surprise Eviction, nothing can get crazier than this. Or can it?

The Pepper Dem Gang have undoubtedly had a busy week – from the special visitors to the exciting Tasks, they’ve definitely had a blast. Until Biggie cut it short with an Eviction twist. Apparently in the Pepper Dem House, anything is bound to happen.

What do the Pepper Dem Housemates anticipate when Ebuka appears on their screen? Now imagine how they felt as soon as he walked into Biggie’s House. The smiles and hugs from the Housemates couldn’t hide the anxiety and fear they felt. Could you tell too?

Dressed in his mustard suit (slay king as usual), Ebuka’s walked in with a sense of warmth and colour into the House, especially after the intense fight. The Pepper Dem Gang have had such an exciting week with visits from Nigeria’s finest stars; however, was this a pleasant visit though?

Another surprise guest the House received was Mr Joe from Deloitte and you know what that means right?

As per tradition, the Housemates had a chat with Ebuka about everything that went down in the House.

While at it, Tacha and Mercy did not fail to go at it on what may appear to be their fifth fight round.

“What has been the most challenging part about staying in the House?” Ebuka asked Seyi. To which Seyi replied that staying in the House with what he termed as “these crazy Housemates” has been difficult for him. In the chat, Diane and Omashola revealed to Ebuka that they are surprised to find themselves moving to the fourteenth week in Biggie’s House. Not coming into the game with a strategy like they said, seemed to be working well for them, perhaps?

The moment Ebuka asked the Nominated Housemates to go pack their bags, that was when the Pepper Dem Gang knew it was about to go down. An Eviction!

Slowly, Ike, Tacha, Mike, Elozonam and Cindy packed up their luggage in preparation for Ebuka’s impromptu message. Who would it be?

“Cindy, you have just been Evicted from the House,” Ebuka said in the lightest tone and we couldn’t help but wonder if an Eviction had just happened. Nonetheless, the other Housemates put up for Eviction this week couldn’t shake off the feeling that their names could be called up next.

Amidst hugs and goodbyes from the Pepper Dem Gang to Cindy, the cold and tense atmosphere in the House couldn’t go unnoticed.

We will definitely miss Cindy in the House but we bet the Pepper Dem dancefloor will miss her more.

  • 4 Reasons why girls are not attracted to you

4 Reasons why girls are not attracted to you

Hey dude, here are 4 reasons why you can’t get a girlfriend:

    1. You’re jobless

And of course, broke. If you are like this, chances are that no one will rush you.

It’s true that there are women who are not about the money but even those won’t be too pleased to be with a guy who has no [legit] job. So if you are hardworking and enterprising some will still rush you even if you are broke.

But that is on the condition that you don’t run afoul of the things listed below…

    2. You don’t respect women

You won’t be rushed if you don’t respect women, no matter how good looking you are.

You won’t be rushed if you don’t respect women. If you are the type who doesn’t have the right manner of approach, if you are not kind and gentle and treat women right, they’ll stay away from you.

Even if you have good looks and that brings them into the yard for a while, it won’t be long before your disrespect and character flaws send them packing.

Women don’t rush guys who are disrespectful. No wonder you are still single.

    3. Your social skills is zero

You need to grow your social skills, too. Talking, communicating, meeting people for the first time and leaving great  impressions on them… you need to know this.

Your lack of this is probably why you are not being rushed.

    4. Your grooming is below par

As simple as this sounds, you may be falling short of it and that’s why no woman is rushing you, or even coming close to you at all.

Body odour, mouth odour, disregard for appearance… all this ensures that women hurry away from you, not towards you.
