    Kidnapped Royal Father Regains Freedom In Kogi

    The Acting Ejeh of Akpa, Alhaji Usman Sani who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen last week Friday has regained his freedom.

    Alhaji Sani, a first class traditional ruler in Kogi State, who doubles as the Director of Local Government in Ankpa was kidnapped on Friday, at about 5:30a in a Mosque.

    It was gathered that he was released by his abductors on Sunday.

    The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), in Kogi State  DSP William Ovye Aya who confirmed the released in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Monday
    could not ascertain the exact time when the monarch was released by his abductors.

    He said the State Commissioner of Police Edeh Ayuba Edeh had directed that officers of the Nigerian Police  should be drafted to scene of the incident and curb every areas within the Eastern axis of the state.

    The Police PPRO, however, debunked reports that the monarch was released after the families gave ransom to the kidnappers stressing that the royal father has since reunited with his family after his release unhurt.

    “We are making frantic effort to arrest those criminals behind this act. Kogi can never be a safe haven for criminals in the state” he stated.

    On the kidnap of a former Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Barrister Isaac Emmanuel Ekpa, the PPRO  told our correspondent that the Police is working round the clock to secure his release.

    Large crowds gathered at the offices of the National Identity Management Commission in Lagos on Monday in a bid to register and obtain the National Identity Number.

    The development comes just days after the Nigerian Communication Commission ordered telecommunications companies to within two weeks suspend phone subscribers who have no NIN.

    Currently, only about 41.5 million Nigerians out of an estimated 198 million active phone subscribers have NIN.

    Most of the people, who gathered at the NIMC office in Alausa, were either not wearing face masks or not observing physical distancing, thereby flouting the protocol put in place by the government in a bid to tackle the spread of COVID-19 which has been on the increase in the last one week.

    LIB reported earlier that after 344 schoolboys were released by the bandits in Zamfara State, the presidential spokesperson offered an apology and also alleged that he was misled by persons who should know better.

    Sowore who reacted to this, stated that Shehu’s case is beyond apologies. He further described him as “an apology of a person” and added that he “lies to cover lies and now so obsessed with lying so much that he does so effortlessly and without shame”.

    He wrote;

    Niger Speaker, Clerk test positive for COVID-19

    The Speaker of the Niger House of Assembly, Bawa Wuse and the Clerk, Mohammed Kagara, have gone into isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

    Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, confirmed the development to newsmen on Sunday in Minna.

    Idris who did not give more details on the issue, simply said that ‘it was true’.

    Also, the member representing Bida 11, at the State Assembly, Alhaji Haruna Baba, also confirmed the development.

    He explained that two weeks ago, the member representing Gurara, Binta Mamman, tested positive, which made the entire legislators and staff of the assembly to undergo testing for coronavirus.

    “Unfortunately, the results of the speaker and that of clerk turned out positive,” he said.

    He said that all the lawmakers and principal staff have gone into self isolation.

    Another source at the assembly, who pleaded anonymity, told journalists that many of the test carried out on the lawmakers returned negative, except that of the Speaker and the Clerk.

    The source confirmed that the two of them are responding positively to treatment.

    The state government had directed workers to stay at home from Monday in order to curtail the spread of the pandemic while all schools in state have been closed since Friday.

    The Anambra State Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Christian C. Madubuko on Sunday  narrowly escaped death following an attack by unknown gunmen.

    Reports had it the gunmen  suspected to be hired assassins could not succeed as the commissioner escaped the attack though it was not clear if he sustained injuries.

    t was gathered that the Commissioner who was driving himself was returning from Osumenyi where he attended the burial of the late wife of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu. 

    “The gunmen ambushed him. But the clever Commissioner smartly and miraculously escaped several rounds of bullets shot at him. It is not clear whether he sustained bullet wounds or not,” a close family source said.

    Though the where about of the Commissioner is not yet known as  efforts to reach him remain  unsuccessful as his mobile phone was switched off.

    Mrs Buhari disclosed that she travelled out of the country for medical checkup.

    The First Lady disclosed this through one of her aides, Kabiru Dodo, in Jalingo, Taraba State over the weekend when her foundation presented some items to widows.

    Representing Aisha Buhari, Dodo said the First Lady left her children, husband, and family in the country.

    According to Dodo: “The First Lady travelled for her medical trip, she did not flee the country because of insecurity.

    “She left her children, her husband and family in Nigeria.

    “What people are saying is baseless and worth nothing to be considered.

    “I want to tell the whole world that I do speak to her on daily basis and she is ready to return to the country as soon as she is done with the medical treatment abroad.”
