CLEARANCE OF ASPIRANTS FOR 2024 SOKOTO COUNCIL ELECTION

The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has approved the clearance of members aspiring to contest various positions in the State Council election, scheduled for December 21, 2024.

According to a statement issued by the Secretary of the Credentials Committee, Abdallah el-Kurebe, the following candidates have been cleared to contest:

1. Chairman
– Mohammed Sirajo Dalhatu
– Usman Mohammed Binji

2. Vice Chairman
– Aminu Aliyu S. Dole

3. Secretary
– Muhammad Nasir Bello

4. Assistant Secretary
– Abubakar Abdullahi

5. Treasurer
– Umar A. Shehu

6. Financial Secretary
– Samaila Muhammad

7. Auditor
– Ibrahim Salihu

The clearance of these candidates follows their fulfillment of all constitutional requirements.

Additionally, the National Secretariat has confirmed Saturday, December 21, 2024, as the official date for the election.

The Credentials Committee has urged candidates to commence their campaigns promptly and advised them to focus on issue-based discussions rather than personal attacks.

The Chairman of the Credentials Committee, Shehu Jatau, praised the Union members for their continued cooperation and called for a peaceful and rancor-free election process.
