Washing clothes might seem straightforward: load the drum, add detergent, set the program, and start the machine. Yet, there’s more to it than meets the eye, especially when it comes to water temperature.

Washing machines offer various temperature settings, from cold to hot. Many people routinely choose 40 or 60 degrees Celsius, believing these to be optimal. However, this may not be the best choice.

Heating water consumes the most electricity during a wash cycle.
