CONMESS: Osun health workers hail Oyetola, pledge optimal performance

Health workers in Osun have lauded Gov. Gboyega Oyetola for approving the implementation of 100 percent payment of Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for all health workers in the state.

They stated that the development would go a long way in improving the standard of the health sector in the state.
The commendation was contained in a statement jointly issued by Dr Ayodeji Ogungbemi and Dr Olusegun Ilori, the President and General Secretary respectively, of Congress of the Association of Resident Doctors, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, on Friday.
According to the medical workers, the gesture of the state government is a pointer to better days ahead, adding that the association was ready to assist government achieve its goal seamlessly in the sector.
They said that the gesture would also help to stem the menace of brain drain in the health sector and perfectly curtail industrial action for utmost performance.
“The executive committee and the congress of the Association of Resident Doctors, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, sincerely appreciate the approval for the implementation of 100 percent payment of CONMESS and CONHESS for all categories of health workers in the state.
“Over the last few years, we have consistently experienced massive brain drain, which has impacted poorly on healthcare delivery in the state.
“There has been loss of morals and enthusiasm among health workers, with consequential work overload, which adversely affected the psychology of health workers in the state.
“We want to categorically state that the 100 percent implementation of CONMESS is a step in the right direction, which will positively impact on healthcare delivery in the state,” the workers noted.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Oyetola had recently approved the implementation of 100 percent payment of CONMESS and CONHESS for all categories of health workers in the state.
The approval has puts to an end to an eight-year agitation for salary increment by medical and health workers in the state.
