COVID-19: Osun Information Commissioner, Egbemode promises more awareness.

By Richard Ayinde, Osogbo.

Osun State Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation has reiterated it’s grassroot publicity efforts to ensure that the much needed awareness is created, in all nooks and crannies of the State, concerning the new dimension of the third wave, Delta Variant Covid-19.

The State Information Commissioner, Mrs.Funke Egbemode made this known at Obada Market in Ikire, Irewole local government area of the state during the subsisting Covid-19 sensitisation rally.

Holding the forth for the Commissioner, the Director, Grassroot and Public Enlightenment in the Ministry, Mr. Raphael Ojo charged all market men and women to spread the awareness message in order to protect themselves and families from the lingering pandemic.

While assuring the traders that the State Government will continue to collaborate with relevant health agencies to ensure adequate supply of anticovid vaccines for everybody in the State, Egbemode maintained that the pathway of wisdom for individual protection remained strict adherence to all safety protocols.

It would be recalled that Osun State Government, recently, received a total of 47,000 doses of anti Covid-19 modern vaccines from the Federal Government.

Speaking at the rally, the Babaloja of Obada Market in Ikire, Prince Oyebade Oyeniran, who disclosed that he had received his personal dosage of the vaccine, also confirmed that the market executive members had also received their jabs.

In a similar development, the Iyaloja of the Market, Chief (Mrs.) Adetomiwa Musifat, who expressed disappointment over the lackluster attitude of traders towards facemask wearing, lamented that she had freely distributed the material to them on three occasions.

She then assured the State Government that the Market leadership would put all machinery in place to facilitate compliance to safety precautions so that whenever back checking is done they wouldn’t be found wanting.

Highlight of the rally was the peculiar appearance of the popular Actress, Abeni Agbon’, brandishing her insignia of a traditionalist, offering traditional sacerdotal prayer for the entire market, which secured large and rapt attention, before trumpeting the Covid-19 awareness message.
