Dangote Cement Nurtures Technical Skills in 23 Kogi YouthsIn a recent event on Sunday, the Dangote Cement Plc’s Obajana Plant in Kogi welcomed 23 young individuals to participate in its Technical Skills Induction program, expertly guided by its Transport Technical Unit.

this training endeavor took place within Obajana and stands as a testament to Dangote’s resolute commitment in upholding its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) obligations to the state.

In an address to the participants during the induction ceremony, Mr. J.V. Gungune, the Plant Director of Dangote Cement Plant in Obajana, articulated that the selected youths were drawn from the neighboring communities of Oyo, Iwaa, Apata, and Obajana in Kogi.

Gungune underscored the essence of the “Technical Skills Acquisition program,” which extended over a span of three months. This initiative is geared towards endowing the youths with valuable skills while simultaneously nurturing entrepreneurial development within the regions it caters to. He further emphasized the significance of the current group of 23 trainees, which includes both male and female participants. Of note, the majority of these individuals are high school graduates.

Mr. Ademola Adeyemi, the General Manager of Community Affairs/Special Duties, augmented the conversation by revealing that the trainees would receive monthly stipends for the duration of their training. He expressed an optimistic view that, upon the culmination of their training, these youths would play a pivotal role in bolstering their local communities, enriching the broader Kogi State, and ultimately contributing to the progress of Nigeria.

Casting a spotlight on the training’s technical facets, Mr. Ajay Singh, the Divisional Director of Transport at Dangote Cement Plc, delineated the comprehensive domains covered. These encompassed Auto Mechanics, Auto Electrical work, Welding, and Panel Beating/Fabrication.

Expanding upon these aspects, Engr Alfa Adamu, the Workshop Manager, explained that the trainees had been strategically distributed across various engineering divisions based on their individual talents and preferences.

Among the trainees, Mrs. Bamidele Gbenga, a 38-year-old participant from the Iwaa Community, expressed her elation with the ongoing training, describing her rapid progress as a source of great joy. She expressed, “I am very happy that I am learning very fast.”

Echoing a similar sentiment, Mrs. Adebayo Rechel, 38, hailing from the Oyo Community, extended gratitude to the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for granting them this invaluable opportunity. She added, “There is nothing I cannot repair on an Air Conditioner system now.”
