The National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) South-South Vice President, Comrade Clement Etiefa, has commended Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, for implementing transformative reforms that have improved the welfare of local government workers.
Speaking at the inauguration of executives for the 32 Rural Development Authorities (RDAs) in Yenagoa, Etiefa praised the state’s leadership in the South-South region for ensuring the prompt payment of salaries, gratuities, and pensions amounting to billions of naira.
He described the appointment of RDA executives as a strategic move to strengthen the link between workers and political leadership, urging them to promote peace and cooperation.
Etiefa also lauded Bayelsa NULGE President, Comrade Singer ThankGod, for his dedication to workers’ welfare and encouraged continued commitment to their needs.
In his remarks, ThankGod urged the RDA executives to prioritise worker welfare through dialogue, noting the state’s achievements in promotions and payment of arrears under labour-friendly policies. He emphasised loyalty and proactive engagement with management to ensure workers fully benefit from government initiatives.
Speaking on behalf of the RDA chairmen, Comrade Oliver Solomon pledged commitment to addressing challenges through dialogue.
The inauguration highlighted Bayelsa State’s commitment to strengthening local government administration and enhancing worker welfare.
