In a dramatic turn of events, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State presented the state’s N800 billion 2024 budget proposals to a four-man assembly. Edison Ehie, who was recently backed by a ruling of the Rivers State High Court as the authentic Speaker of the State Assembly, presided over the four-man assembly. The budget, tagged as the ‘Budget of Renewed Hope, Consolidation, and Continuity,’ had earlier received approval from the Rivers State Executive Council. The unusual presentation to a significantly reduced assembly has raised eyebrows and sparked discussions about the political dynamics in the state. Further details are expected to emerge.
